Even though I’ve never produced a major motion picture like Joss Whedon, I can totally relate to his multi-tasking mantras. The busier I am, the more effective at getting it all done, efficiency just kicks into overdrive. One of my favorite memories was one particular week during which I had a magazine deadline, and two major galas, one of which I was chairing, the other just a committee member. Oh, and mom of two, PTA president and educational foundation board member. Sleep? Meh. But it was fantastic, a beautiful symphony of action and delegation, because at the end of the day, completion was the only option. As I read this article, one of Joss’ quotes struck me as a common thought I had that week and regularly since: “‘Next actions’ is one of the most important things that you can say in any endeavor.”

Just Do It
Seriously hands down, one of the all-time best ad slogans ever is Nike’s encouragement to Just Do It. It’s not to be outdone by Apple’s Think Different, I’m quite partial to both, however the former marks its 25th anniversary this month so it merits recognition. What makes it so great is its simplicity as well as its ability to transcend athletics and inspire us to chase greatness in all areas of our life.
